Benefits to Protective Skinwear

Besides looking cool, leggings, rash guards, and other similar clothing can help protect your skin from UV light and stings. While they can be used on land, most of my experience is in the water. Having more skin covered not only reduces the chances of stings, it also reduces the amount of sunscreen you need to use (I only need to put it on my face with a rash guard and leggings). This can be particularly beneficial when swimming in areas that may be more sensitive to sunscreen, such as reefs.
Regarding their use with diving, wearing a fitted layer of slick fabric can make putting on your wetsuit easier, especially with one-piece dive skins.

So, to summarize:

- Looks cool
- UV protection
- Sting protection
- Less sunscreen needed
- Easier wetsuit donning
